Greetings and Welcome!
This is the start of something big! Welcome to the 1999 World W-right
Web! This site is developed and maintained by Jason Bryant for the W-right
Connection. It's purpose is to provide a forum for communications between
the members of the W-right family tree and the global community as whole.
We'll be moving soon so watch the news for the new URL. Ultimately, we'd like to get our own domain, i.e., www.wrightconn.org. |

Y2k Reunion NEWS...
Happy 1999!! One more year 'til we know the the truth about the Y2K problem!!
Ringing in the New Year!! A Call to Arms As this site develops, the need will arise to enlist editors, reviewers and content creators. Now that we are gaining momentum and awareness, that need is strikingly urgent. Seems feasible... October 19, 1998 - There was a great idea offerred, to locate a family member that is connected to the internet, and who would be willing to act as the registration representative for the region in which they live. For instance, Adrienne Samuels, or Xavier Bryant could be made the Chicago Regional Registrar for the event, and actually, many other events. They would be contacted by phone by those W-right connection members who don't have access to the internet, with registation information for their family groupings. The Registrar would then enter that information into an online database that the event coordinators could review and use for planning. Also, the enabling technology known as Quicktime was brought up for consideration. Just FYI, capturing video and audio for Web delivery is NOT CHEAP! Video capture and compression, which is absolutely necessary, is right at about $90.00 per final video second. That rate is commanded by people or companies that know what they are doing with this type of Media Delivery. On top of that, it is STRONGLY ill-advised to attempt to set up these types of services on a commercial ISP, since they ultimately have complete control over the content and quality of the media delivered. This brings
to mind another thing, if the W-Right Connection intends to pursue the
internet and its capabilities with any seriousness, finding competent,
well-informed partners for this effort is HIGHLY recommended.
There is a photo
archive project underway, Eric Bryant has the current volume of work.
The majority of these photographs are either extremely fragile, or in
severe distress. Some have big rips in them, while others are fading
fast. This is a preservation initiative. Find your old pictures, the
older or more damaged a photograph is, the more urgent the need for
its archival. Let's not stand by and allow our memories to fade, lest
the children forget where we've been. Coming up!
